NATIONAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING WEEK (NSEW 2009)
National Science and Engineering Week (formerly National Science Week), funded by the Department of Trade and Industry, celebrates science
and engineering and its importance to our lives. Every March the UK hosts a huge variety of science, engineering and technology events
giving people across the UK the chance to participate in activities, experiments and discussions. There are no restrictions on what you
can and cannot do for National Science and Engineering Week but each event should raise awareness, appreciation and understanding of science,
engineering and technology in some way.
The BA is seeking to encourage as many organisations and individuals to become involved by organising an event to celebrate NSEW2009.
The first step is to register on the BA website as an event organiser. Various resources are available on the website to assist
organisers -
www.the-ba.net/nsewresources.
These include guides to: Organising an Event, Obtaining Funding for an Event and
Publicising your Event as well as a number of Challenge Packs with ideas for a wide range of activities.
There are also various sources of funding including:
Public Engagement Grants from the Institute of Physics -
www.iop.org/activity/outreach.
- closing date 7 November 2008
Small Grant Scheme for Schools and
Scottish Government NSEW Grant both through the BA -
www.the-ba.net/smallgrants.
closing dates 28 November 2008 and 16 January 2009 respectively.
If you are interested in finding out more about National
Science and Engineering Week events or how to become an event organiser, then look at
www.the-ba.net/nsew.
If any of the above activities could be
fulfilled by you then please get in touch by using the Contact page.
Alternatively if you are a teacher looking for an ambassador please contact us
and give details of the support which you require.
